As everyone knows by now, the massive Hurricane Ike slammed southeast Texas and parts of the Louisiana and Mississippi Gulf coast, causing major flood and wind damage. We hope that all Windowsitpro.com readers in the affected areas rode out the storm in safety and will recover as soon as possible.

I invite our IT pro readers in the US gulf coast areas--those affected by Hurricane Ike as well as Gustav a couple weeks ago--to share your stories. Did your business continuity/disaster recovery procedures go as planned? Any tips you'd like to share with your fellow IT professionals to help others better prepare for a real-life disaster? Did you find any particular products or technologies especially helpful for communication and recovery?

Post your stories in the reader comments section below, or email them to me at agrubb@windowsitpro.com. I'll give VIP subscriptions to readers with the most compelling stories (for example, that provide good detail about your organization's disaster recovery as well as human interest anecdotes). Plus, I'll feature those stories in an upcoming IT Pro Hero in Windows IT Pro.

Finally, I've compiled a quick list of disaster recovery articles available on Windowsitpro.com and Sqlmag.com. These articles are available to all registered users.
